A Network Hub for Mobile Workspaces

A service vehicle can bring together laptops, tablets, and network-enabled diagnostic tools. Four Gigabit LAN ports provide local wired connections, while dual-band Wi-Fi provides access for compatible wireless clients. A separate Gigabit WAN port offers a wired uplink option where available.

The cellular hardware includes one M.2 slot and two nano SIM card slots. This is a single-module, dual-SIM configuration, not a dual-module platform. Confirm SIM selection and switching behavior for the selected modem and firmware.

MT7981B Processing. MT7976CN Wireless.

The Z8106AX-M2-T uses the MT7981B ARM Cortex-A53 dual-core CPU at 1.3GHz, paired with the MT7976CN Wi-Fi chipset. IEEE 802.11n/g/b/a/ac/ax support includes Wi-Fi 6, with maximum listed rates of 573Mbps on 2.4GHz and 2402Mbps on 5.8GHz.

The combined 2975Mbps figure describes wireless link specifications across both bands. It is not a guaranteed single-client speed, cellular download rate, or measured Internet throughput.

Memory consists of 256MB DDR3 RAM and 128MB SPI NAND flash; eMMC is not supported. The listed interfaces include a 5.5 × 2.1mm DC port, a 4-pin port, a USB 3.0 port, and a reset button. Eight detachable SMA antennas complete the antenna configuration.

Plan Cellular Access Around Your Routes

The product sheet carries a 5G / X62 designation and specifies one M.2 slot using a USB 3.0 bus. Confirm the actual modem model, whether it is included, its supported bands, and target-carrier compatibility for your order.

Assess coverage along the intended routes. Dual SIM slots do not by themselves establish automatic failover, simultaneous cellular links, bandwidth aggregation, or uninterrupted roaming in motion. Validate the functions required by your application with the selected configuration.

Vehicle Connectivity Scenarios to Evaluate

Build the network around the equipment your team uses, then validate electrical, environmental, and radio suitability for the installation.

  • Field-Service Vans: Evaluate Wi-Fi access for technician laptops and tablets and wired access for compatible diagnostic equipment. Cloud access depends on cellular service and configuration.
  • Mobile Offices: Plan wired and wireless access for teams working from suitably equipped vehicles, including parked-site work sessions.
  • Fleet Support Vehicles: Connect compatible network-enabled equipment. GPS tracking, CAN bus integration, and vehicle telemetry require separate hardware or confirmed integrations.
  • Onboard Video Projects: Evaluate Ethernet connections for network cameras or recorders. Confirm bandwidth, storage, power, and remote access separately; PoE is not specified.
  • Vehicle Hotspot Concepts: Assess dual-band access for compatible devices, with client capacity and traffic policies tested against the intended usage.

Design for the Vehicle. Validate the Installation.

Pair the documented Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and cellular module interfaces with a validated power solution, secure mounting, and appropriate antenna placement. Test the complete installation against the routes and operating conditions your team expects.

Before Installing in a Vehicle

The supplied sheet does not state the input-voltage range, automotive transient protection, ignition control, operating-temperature range, vibration rating, or automotive certifications. Do not assume direct compatibility with a vehicle's 12V or 24V electrical system. Confirm the required regulated power supply, protection, and environmental limits before installation.

The 4-pin port's function and pinout are not defined. Confirm them before wiring; it should not be treated as a confirmed ignition-control, serial, or vehicle-bus interface. USB peripheral support, VPN, and remote-management features also require confirmation for the supplied firmware.

Procurement & Integration

Share your target countries, carriers, vehicle type, onboard devices, and power architecture when requesting a configuration. Confirm the modem, cellular bands, SIM behavior, antenna layout, firmware functions, and installation requirements before moving from sample evaluation to fleet deployment.

Request pricing, sample availability, lead times, and configuration details based on your project requirements.
